Job Description for Sr Mech Design Engr

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design of Gas turbine engine components such as rotor, stator, casing, and fuel atomizers, fuel nozzles and associated assemblies.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure structural thermal and fatigue analysis meets the system requirements.
- Collaborate with aerothermal engineers to ensure aerodynamic and thermodynamic compatibility of designs.
- Develop and validate CAD models and detailed drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
- Support design reviews, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Interface with materials, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure design feasibility and performance.
- Support test activities, define instrumentation and test plans, analyze test data, troubleshoot.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the propulsion engineering team.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualification and experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in gas turbine mechanical design, with background in Gas turbine domain.
- Experience working with tight‑tolerances, high‑temperature components such as fuel atomizers, nozzles in combustor module or other mechanical components.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD / PLM (e.g., Siemens NX / Teamcenter, CATIA / Enovia) and FEA tools.
- Proficiency in drawing interpretations, spec interpretations, manufacturing techniques, GD&T and Stackup analysis.
- Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability in aerospace environments.
- Proven ability to design mechanical components for gas turbine engines or aircraft systems or Aircraft primary structure.
- Should be a Self-starter and work independently, with strong oral and written communication.
Preference:
- Must demonstrate Aircraft industry practices, processes and methods.
- Familiarity with aerospace propulsion systems, including turbofan and turbojet engines.
- Proven ability in converting design concepts into a manufacturing drawings. Must demonstrate design to cost / manufacturing and detail design.
- Should be an expert in using CAD tools like UGNX, CATIA V5. Should handle advanced modelling techniques like PMI, MBD.
- Should be an expert in using PLM tools like Team center, ENOVIA, PDM.
- Understands change management, configuration management and documentation.
- Exposure to CAD and PLM automation will be added advantage.
- Knowledge of advanced materials (e.g., superalloys, thermal barrier coatings).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
